Congratulations and welcome to the third week of August 2021. Two weeks ago, we began a series titled:\u00a0Understanding the Wonders of Divine Direction<\/strong>\u00a0and so far in the series, we established that\u00a0the secret of divine guidance is the Guide\u00a0<\/strong>(Psalm 16:11). Using the story of the Patriarch Jacob in Genesis 46, we saw that God used\u00a0difficulties, desires,<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0direction<\/strong>\u00a0to lead Jacob into His will. Last week, we explored how God used\u00a0difficulties<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the crisis in Canaan to move Jacob to a new location and this week, I will like us to to see how God will lead His people via a\u00a0desire.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sometimes God can guide us by placing a desire in our hearts for a new situation.<\/strong>\u00a0In Genesis\u00a045 & 46, we saw Jacob waiting nervously for his eleven living sons to return with food from Egypt.\u00a0For 22 years he had mourned the loss of his son Joseph<\/strong>\u00a0and sending Benjamin, Rachel\u2019s only other child, to Egypt for food was completely against his will. At this point, his sons had been gone for weeks, perhaps months and Jacob was worried about their return.\u00a0He slept fitfully, and feared that Benjamin would disappear just like Joseph,\u00a0<\/strong>hence his last connection with Rachel would be gone and he would die in misery. However, on this particular day, Jacob heard the donkeys arrive \u2013\u00a0his sons had returned!<\/strong>\u00a0He went out to meet them, and saw\u00a0Benjamin right up front.<\/strong>\u00a0Benjamin! Still alive! Before Jacob could reach him, before he could embrace him, all the sons cried out,\u00a0\u201cFather! Joseph is still alive,\u00a0<\/strong>and he is ruler over all the land of Egypt!\u201d\u00a0Jacob was stunned.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In previous years, Jacob had allowed the difficult circumstances of his life to overshadow his trust in God\u2019s sovereignty<\/strong>\u00a0but the news about Joseph caused Jacob to remember the greatness of his God,\u00a0God had kept Joseph alive despite Jacob\u2019s years of doubt.<\/strong>\u00a0God had watched over Joseph and miraculously exalted him in Egypt.\u00a0Learning of God\u2019s miraculous faithfulness renewed Jacob\u2019s faith and created in Jacob a very strong desire to see Joseph.<\/strong>\u00a0To see Joseph, Jacob had to relocate to Egypt and the Bible records that Jacob acted wisely. He showed his whole-hearted commitment to God by relocating from Canaan to Egypt.<\/p>\n

There are many people experiencing losses everyday simply because they have not trusted in the guidance of the Almighty God\u00a0<\/strong>who knows everything (Proverbs 3:5-6) so as I sign off this week, I will like you to know that\u00a0if you partner with God<\/strong>\u00a0and trust in His guidance, He will guide you in every area of your life<\/strong>\u00a0(for your own good). He will\u00a0remove from your path<\/strong>\u00a0those things that look good but the end of which is utter destruction, He will\u00a0warn you of danger zones,<\/strong>\u00a0He will warn you against\u00a0\u201cblessings\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>that will lead to your destruction, He will guide you<\/strong>\u00a0against marrying someone who will cause you irrecoverable loss in the journey of life; He will show you\u00a0opportunities that people despise\u00a0<\/strong>but which\u00a0possess great potentials; and more. . .<\/strong><\/p>\n

Will you let Him\u00a0DIRECT\u00a0<\/strong>your steps?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
